Getting to Pandan Island

The journey to Pandan Island is an adventure in itself. Travel by land, air or sea.

From Manila

By Plane

  1. Book a flight from Manila to San Jose airport in Mindoro Occidental.
  2. Travel from San Jose to Pandan Island can be pre-arranged with us or by public bus to Sablayan.
  3. At Sablayan, take a tricycle to the fish landing (BFAR).
  4. Ride the bangka (outrigger boat) to Pandan Island. Contact us for details on the boat trip.

By Bus

  1. At Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, there are several buses you can take that have direct trips from Manila to Sablayan.
  2. At Sablayan, take a tricycle to the fish landing (BFAR).
  3. Ride the bangka (outrigger boat) to Pandan Island. Contact us for details on the boat trip.

From Batangas

By Boat

  1. At the Batangas Port, take the Montenegro RORO to Abra de Ilog Port Mindoro. The ship leaves at 7am so better to be at Batangas Port by 6am.
    • RORO fee: P2,500 per car.
    • Fare: P400/pax
  1. From Abra de Ilog Port, drive to the fish landing (BFAR) and park the car for free.
  2. Ride the bangka (outrigger boat) to Pandan Island. Contact us for details on the boat trip.

By Bus

  1. From Passenger Terminal Batangas, take the ferry to Abra.
  2. In Abra, there are direct buses to Sablayan.
  3. At Sablayan, take a tricycle to the fish landing (BFAR).
  4. Ride the bangka (outrigger boat) to Pandan Island. Contact us for details on the boat trip.

From Puerto Galera

By Boat

  1. From Ms. Caribbean Sea Transport, take the boat to Abra de Ilog.
  2. Take the bus or jeepney from Abra de Ilog to Sablayan.
  3. At Sablayan, take a tricycle to the fish landing (BFAR).
  4. Ride the bangka (outrigger boat) to Pandan Island. Contact us for details on the boat trip.

From Boracay

  1. From Caticlan (Panay), take the boat to Roxas (Mindoro Oriental) or Bulalacao (Mindoro Oriental).
  2. From Roxas or Bulalacao, take the public van/bus to San Jose.
  3. Travel from San Jose to Pandan Island can be pre-arranged with us or by public bus to Sablayan.
  4. At Sablayan, take a tricycle to the fish landing (BFAR).

Here are some helpful tips for tourists

Health: COVID-19 vaccinations are recommended when traveling to the Philippines. For those who plan to dive, it’s advisable to get a medical certificate from your doctor first. Before entering the Philippines you are advised to fill out the e-Travel Declaration

Climate: Most of the year is typically tropical. The cool dry season is from December to March. The hot summer season is from April to July. Rainy season is from July to October, but there may be typhoons up to December.

Money: The Philippine peso (PHP) is the official currency of the Philippines. Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks or with official moneychangers. In Sablayan and many remote locations, most establishments accept cash only, not credit cards.

Airport: When you arrive, the easiest way to get a taxi is to get a ticket from the Taxi Center in the arrival hall. There’s also a line of airport taxis outside. Prepare cash on hand. You can download the Grab app for a hassle-free way to get around Manila.  There’s a Grab pickup point at Terminal 3.

Immigration: A 30-day visa is given automatically upon arrival, which can be extended up to 59 days. For longer stays, you need to apply for an extension at the Immigration Office in Intramuros, Manila or contact one of the many visa agencies in Manila. Normally, a stay up to 1 year is possible for tourists.

What is the best time to visit Pandan Island

The dry season lasts form December to June, so this is a ggod time to plan your vacation.

Is it necessary to make a reservation at Pandan Island

Yes, especially during our peak seson from Decamber to May.

Is it possible to pay with credit cards or traveler checks on Pandan Island?

We prefer payments in peso (PHP), since we are far from the local bank/money exchange. But we accept dollars (USD) and euro traveler checks for down payments only, with a service charge of 3.9%. Due to security reasons, Paypal is not accepted during your stay on Pandan Island.
Payment with cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH) is available upon request.

Can I use my cellphone on Pandan Island?

Yes, you can use your phone on the island with local networks, SMART and GLOBE. If you’re coming from abroad, we advise getting a prepaid sim with load before visiting. For more information on prepaid promos, visit www.smart.com.ph or www.globe.com.ph.

Is there an internet connection on Pandan Island?

Yes, there is free wifi on the island. Please note that the internet speed is not fast and depends on the number of users connected. For a faster connection, we recommend getting a prepaid sim.

We are a family with small children. Is it pssible to hire a babysitter while we dive?

Yes, we can organize a babysitter for you on a daily basis.
